Index for Working Musik emerged from the depths of an East End bunker in 2023 as a Tough Love recording unit, releasing the striking debut Dragging the Needlework for the Kids at Uphole, a “Heroin Country” affair, soon followed by the experimental, Indexe’e.

2024 saw the release of Purple Born, an 8-minute track that channels the likes of John Fahey and Polvo—leather boys, leather girls, and silly cuckoo clocks—and served as the first signal of second album, 2025's Which Direction Goes The Beam –– 'The Londoners' ritualistic second offers arcane, post-industrial Anglicana, with guitars as its sacrament' –Uncut

April 2026 saw the release of Bunker Intimations II, a sister record to their sophomore. The 50-minute long collection of recordings was made across an intense three day period in March ‘25 under the duress of a very strict deadline. All tracks were improvised and mixed-down on the spot, a genuine document of a moment in time. This understated release made its mark with those listening, The Guardian noting 'a brilliant, haunting set of recordings, lurking between hypnotic space rock and creaking post-rock instrumentals'.

Index have spent 2026 between the bunker and stage, continuing the work on the narrative which is soon to be revealed, in the form of their next offering.
