Von Wildenhaus hails from a Pacific Northwest that is mapped by Sun City Girls’ Seattle, Unwound’s Olympia, and John Fahey’s Takoma – not to mention all the weirdos of Whatcom County where they first met. After releasing several albums of noted instrumental guitar noir music in the early 2010s, guitarist Ben von Wildenhaus (a tour hardened veteran of the 90s/00s punk scene and film music composer) formed Von Wildenhaus with vocalist Billie Bloom, whose commanding voice and presence are held by a cast of gifted players, singers, and songwriters.

The band’s eclectic output has found admirers in Iggy Pop, Calvin Johnson, The Quietus, and The Stranger’s Dave Segal. 2020’s Everything In Flower contains an apocalyptic collection of moody and melodic lounge psychedelia. 2022’s World Best is a voyage through skeletal beats, snakey guitars, feral incantations, and grand departures into lofi synth and strings landscape, that features guests like Ilyas Ahmed, Dorian Wood, and the Diminished Men. 2024’s Von Universe and 2025’s Dark Von Universe collect over 2 hours of recordings from studios, living rooms, and basements across the northwest, (as well as live tracks from their UK tour), released episodically and spanning all the disparate vibes between Middle Eastern electro-pop, slacker post rock, torch balladry, and 60s British folk rock. The late Andru Creature, vibe conductor and founding VW member, used to call their music, “Easy Listening For Demons.” These days in his profound absence it might as well be called, “Devotional Hymns for Dumpster Angels
